Description
When your trusty International starts blowing blue smoke, burning oil, or just doesn’t have the pulling power it once did, it’s time for a complete engine rebuild. These 282 cubic inch diesel engines were built tough, but after decades of hard work, even the best engines need fresh internals. This comprehensive overhaul kit gives you everything needed to bring that tired six-cylinder back to factory specifications and reliable performance.
What You’re Getting
- Complete cylinder sleeve set with proper 3-11/16 inch bore diameter for factory-spec compression
- Matched piston and ring sets with cupped-head design for optimal combustion chamber shape
- Piston pins, retainers, and bushings – all the small parts that make the difference
- Full gasket set including head gaskets, oil pan, and all sealing surfaces
- Front and rear crankshaft seals to stop those annoying oil leaks
Built for Real Farm Work
This kit fits the backbone tractors of many operations – International Harvester’s 560, 656, 660, 706, 2656, and 2706 series. These were the workhorses that handled everything from plowing and discing to running PTO equipment and pulling heavy loads. Whether your tractor’s still earning its keep with a loader, running a hay baler, or handling daily chores around the farm, these engines deserve quality rebuilding components.
Made to Last
Tru-Power has been manufacturing engine rebuild kits for agricultural equipment for decades, understanding that farm engines need parts that can handle the dust, heat, and constant workload of agricultural service. The sleeve flanges are machined to proper 4.165-inch diameter, and all components meet or exceed original International Harvester specifications.
Good to Know
This is a basic kit that doesn’t include main or rod bearings – you’ll need to measure your crankshaft and order those separately based on journal condition. Most rebuilders prefer this approach since bearing sizes depend on whether the crank needs grinding. Plan on having your cylinder head rebuilt with new valves and guides while the engine’s apart – it’s the perfect time for a complete refresh.
