Description
When your field cultivator’s transport wheels start wobbling or the bearings are howling, it’s usually the spindle that’s the culprit. A worn or bent spindle makes for a rough ride to the field and puts extra stress on your wheel bearings and hub assembly. This double-ended spindle gets your cultivator rolling smooth again, so you can focus on the field work instead of wondering if you’ll make it there in one piece.
What You’re Getting
- Double-ended design provides two wearing surfaces for longer service life
- 1-7/8″ outside diameter fits properly in the hub bearing races
- 31-inch length gives you the correct track width for stable transport
- Requires welding into the hub assembly for permanent, solid installation
- Built to handle the weight and bouncing of transport across rough farm ground
Built for Real Farm Work
This spindle works with the AN183318 hub assembly that’s used on John Deere field cultivators like the 960, 1000, 1010, and 1050 models. These are the workhorses you see pulling 20 to 40-foot cultivators, getting fields ready for planting or working corn stubble after harvest. The transport wheels take a beating moving these heavy implements down gravel roads and through field entrances.
Made to Last
Farm equipment spindles have to handle thousands of pounds bouncing down the road at transport speeds. This one’s made from quality steel that resists bending and wear, with precise dimensions that ensure proper bearing contact and smooth operation. The double-ended design means you get twice the wearing surface compared to single-ended spindles.
Installation Notes
This is a weld-in spindle, so you’ll need welding equipment and skills to install it properly. The old spindle needs to be cut out and the new one welded in place with full penetration welds. If you’re not comfortable with this type of welding, it’s worth having your local ag welder handle the job to ensure a strong, lasting repair.
