Description
When your disc blades start looking more like smooth wheels than cutting tools, it’s time for replacements that’ll slice through residue and soil instead of just pushing it around. This 28-inch smooth disc blade brings clean cutting action back to your disc harrow, turning over soil evenly and burying crop residue where it belongs without the aggressive bite of notched blades.
What You’re Getting
- 28-inch diameter provides excellent soil penetration and coverage per pass
- Smooth edge design gives you clean cuts without the aggressive action that can over-work light soils
- 5/16-inch (8mm) thickness strikes the right balance between durability and soil flow
- Premium Boron 15B26 steel with 46-52 Rockwell hardness for long-lasting edge retention
- Single punch mounting for secure, straightforward installation on 1-1/2 inch square axles
Built for Real Farm Work
This blade fits any disc harrow using 1-1/2 inch square axles with proper spacing. Whether you’re working corn stalks into black dirt, sizing up wheat stubble, or doing final seedbed preparation, smooth blades like this excel where you need consistent soil mixing without the choppy action that can leave uneven surfaces.
Made to Last
The Boron steel maintains the perfect balance – hard enough to hold a sharp edge through rocky ground and tough stalks, but tough enough to handle the shock when you hit that hidden field stone. The 5/16-inch thickness stands up to rocks and hard ground conditions while the standard concavity provides proper soil flow and mixing action.
Installation Notes
When replacing blades, never mix worn and new on the same gang – the diameter difference creates uneven cutting that leaves mohawk strips. Check your spool spacing while the gangs are apart, and remember that a loose blade wobbles and wears prematurely. Track blade wear by measuring diameter annually – most blades are ready for replacement when they’ve lost 3-4 inches.
