Installation Notes

Replacing a viscous fan clutch requires careful handling – never store the unit on its side or upside down, as this can cause fluid migration that affects performance. Install according to orientation marks – there’s usually a “TOP” marking – and torque to specifications since over-tightening can damage the water pump shaft. Full lock-up typically occurs around 200°F coolant temperature. While you’ve got things apart, inspect the fan blades for cracks or damage and check the radiator for debris.
